Why serving is one of the fastest next steps for a group member, and how to help someone find the right team
Joining a team is one of the fastest ways a person in your group grows.
It moves someone from receiving to contributing, and that shift changes people more than another discussion night will. It also widens their world at Hoboken Grace past the eight people in your living room.

You are not recruiting. You are noticing.
Somebody in your group is good with kids. Somebody else is the one who quietly resets the room before anybody asks. You see things about people that they do not see about themselves, and saying it out loud is most of the job.
The Serving Conversation is the activity that makes this visible. Run it monthly, or quarterly at a minimum. Let the people already on teams tell their stories, and watch who leans in.
Some people want to serve and have no idea where. That is normal, and it is usually a question of gifting rather than willingness.
The SHAPE spiritual gift assessment exists for exactly that. It helps somebody name what they are actually built for instead of guessing.
Do not stop at “you should check that out.” Make the introduction yourself.
Reach out to the team leader, say who you are sending and why, and let the two of them take it from there. A warm handoff lands. A link does not.
Once they have talked, send them the Join a Team form so they can sign up.
TODO(nick): The old Toolbox also linked a SHAPE assessment and a team directory. What are the current URLs for those two?
