Welcome to Group Leadership Development

What Group Leadership Development is and the three things it gives a new leader

Group Leadership Development, or GLD, is how we build dinner group leaders at Hoboken Grace. It runs over several weeks and gives you the foundation to lead a dinner group well.

On behalf of the staff and leaders here, we are glad you are interested in developing as a group leader. Most of us know several people who have the potential to grow our mission with God beyond what we could ask or imagine. The next several weeks are us working alongside you.

GLD is powerful for a lot of reasons. Three stand out.

It is a place to get encouraged

Some people have real leadership potential and do not see it in themselves. GLD is an invitation to come for a few weeks and explore leading, with no strings attached. While you are here, you get encouragement in your ability as a leader.

It builds skills, perspective, and confidence

Almost nobody feels 100% ready or qualified to lead a group. GLD builds the confidence it takes, and it lets you work through the real leadership and growth questions before your group starts.

Along the way we hand you tools. Every time we introduce one, you learn five things about it: the purpose, what a win looks like, the parameters, the principle, and the process of using it.

It is a group, not a class

GLD gives you a small group experience in the middle of the learning. You get the connection while you learn.

You also learn a lot from the other people in the room, because everyone brings a different picture of how their dinner group runs. And the bonds stick. Leaders who went through GLD together still call each other and meet up to talk through what they are facing in their own groups.
