Four roles carry growth in a group, and only one of them is yours
Most group leaders think the job is having all the answers. It is not. Four roles carry growth in a group, and yours is the one people usually get wrong.
When you own your role, you unlock growth in others.

Growth starts when someone chooses to take a step. No one can take it for them. You cannot get baptized on somebody else’s behalf.
This is the part that takes weight off you. If someone in your group is stuck, that is not a verdict on your leadership.
The group creates space for accountability, belonging, and care. Accountability is people walking through it with you. Belonging is a place where you are accepted and welcomed in. Care is people who show up when it gets hard.
You are not the expert. You are the encourager. Show up, speak life, empower growth.
Encouragement often sounds like “I do not know.” Saying you are unsure and offering to go find the answer together is leadership. People follow someone who is real, not someone who is right.
If it is beyond the care of a friend, escalate it. A friend sets up a meal train. A friend reads Romans with you. A friend prays with you after a hard day. A friend does not walk somebody through a marriage that is coming apart. That takes a professional, and we have them.
The church partners with you by providing:
We also carry the next steps your people will eventually be ready for. Starting Point, baptisms, serving opportunities, and sharing their story.
TODO(nick): Booklet page 4 prints “Next: Starting Point, Baptisms, Serving opportunities,
Share their story” beside the church list with no heading of its own. I read it as the next steps the church provides. Is that right, or is it a separate idea?
